St Andrew’s Parish Church Great War memorial board

This is the main Parish Church in Keighley, situated on Church Green at the end of North Street. Several war memorials are in a small memorial chapel set aside for them, to the left of the main altar.
The memorials are The Keighley Boer War Shield, Keighley Great War memorial, Keighley WW2 memorial, St Paul’s Church memorial and higher up on the wall is the standard of the Keighley Old Contemptibles Association, the conservation of which was funded by Keighley Town Council and reinstated by The Men of Worth Project in 2015 with the generous support of the Church Stewards.

This board was made by J B Bailey & Sons of Keighley and unveiled by Major General H. R. Davis in a special ceremony on 24th March 1923.
The Imperial War Museum’s War Memorial reference number is 28719.

An oak board with a carved tracery on the top edge. Below this is a flat rectangular panel with 87 names engraved and painted in gold. At each side is a carved border of intertwined stems and leaves.
